LMS Lower Primary · Grades 1–3

Strong Foundations. Room to Discover.

The first school years lay the foundation for everything that follows. At LMS, we combine reading, writing and maths with Montessori-inspired learning, personal learning paths, age-appropriate technology and varied experiences in nature. Children build knowledge, self-confidence and a joy in learning independently.

Our Approach

Learning More Independently, Step by Step.

01
Grade 1
Building the Basics
Reading, writing, arithmetic and first learning strategies are at the centre. Montessori-inspired materials support hands-on understanding. First digital tools are introduced purposefully and in an age-appropriate way.
02
Grade 2
Consolidating and Applying
Children deepen their foundations, grow more independent and use their knowledge in varied projects. Analogue and digital learning complement each other.
03
Grade 3
Picking Up Pace and Growing
At LMS, grade 3 is a special phase of acceleration. Adaptive learning systems and the AI tutor support individual learning paths. Children can move ahead according to their level and are prepared for the demands of Upper Primary.

For us, acceleration means that every child progresses at their own pace, without extra pressure. Montessori-inspired learning remains part of our approach until the end of grade 3.

Nature and Digital Learning

Learning Digitally. Experiencing the Real World.

At LMS, digital skills start in grade 1, in an age-appropriate way. Children learn to use digital tools sensibly and increasingly on their own. From grade 3, adaptive learning systems and an AI tutor support practice, as tools in the hands of the teachers.

Direct experience matters just as much: every Monday, our nature day takes the children into the forest. There they observe, research, move and create. Scientific questions, creativity and learning together become real experiences.

Project-Based Learning

Discovering Knowledge. Understanding Connections.

In our projects, children connect different subjects. They ask questions, look for solutions, create their own results and learn to work as a team.

One example is our shared theme for 2026/27, “Alaska: Expedition Future”: nature, climate, habitats and cultures of the far north are explored from different subjects.

Family-Friendly

Learning Belongs at School. Free Time Belongs to the Family.

No Homework in the Evening At LMS, children have time during the school day to do their work, supported by teachers and learning coaches. They learn to take responsibility for their work and to use support well. Our aim: more time together for family, friends and rest.
Flexible Holidays By individual arrangement, additional holiday time is possible within the applicable requirements, while keeping the child’s learning progress and catching up on school content in view.
